    Default Cocaine on Currency

    i have a question..

A new -- and strange -- study by the American Chemical Society has just revealed that nine out of 10 pieces -- as in 90% -- of the paper currency sampled around the United States recently contained traces of cocaine -- as in the illegal substance, which binds to the green ink.

Not surprisingly, the money was especially contaminated in bigger, more evil places like Detroit, Boston and Baltimore. Also in Miami, Orlando and good old L.A. All right around 100%. Mostly in $5s, $10s, $20s and $50s.

But get this: The contamination was nearly as bad -- as in 95% -- in Washington, D.C.

so...then 95 per cent of all people that have money on them will have a dog alert on them ..?

so if a police officer sees a dollar bill out for the toll then he has a pretty good chance a dog will alert whether any real drugs are found or not?

sounds like a great way to get a car searched or no?

Most test positive with very few PPMs. That's Parts Per Million....the test sensitivity was way beyond ANY canine capability.....unless you just tooted a line with your last benjamin, I don't see a need to be concerned.

this is not a new situation. I cannot remember when I read it but many many years ago, like over 30, I was reading a Reader's Digest that did an article on cop shops that lived on drug forfeiture items and tainted money was mentioned way back then.

    This may help....errrrr....answer your question.....

    http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/08/14...ney/index.html

I especially like this part: "Some of the dollars in his experiment had .006 micrograms, which is several thousands of times smaller than a single grain of sand."

If a drug puppy can alert on that then, they're the nose of the century!

And! It's what the fish do in the water that the p-bears pick up on. But I'm no ocean biology expert.

BUT, I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last nite!

I was reading about this yesterday. The site I was on cited some official source (sorry, forgot who it was) that stated the average quantity of coke on a bill is 16 µg.

I know mine are clean because I launder all of my money.

went back and found it; via snopes.com, Argonne National Laboratory.

So maybe one or two pieces of currency you might get away with, more currency = more coke.

Doesn't really matter though, Snoopy always barks when you step on his tail
