    Default Photographing High School Events

    Jurisdiction = NY

    If I want to photograph high school sporting events and sell those pictures, am I required to gain written consent from the parent's of those athletes since they are minors?

    It depends largely on how you plan to sell the photos. As part of a book or calendar, or sell to the newspaper? You'd need a release for publication.

    Prints or one-offs? Usually not necessary when the photo is taken on public property, but it's not a bad idea to get one anyway.
