My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: Connecticut.
I applied for and was approved for unemployment effective Dec 22, 2008 for the maximum amount of $519. My claim is in effect for one year.
I continued receiving this for 26 weeks. I then applied for and was approved for the EUC Tier 1 (emergency extension). On July 13, 2009 I started working a temporary/contract Information Technology job. This job is now scheduled to end on either 11/30/2009 or 12/15/2009.
Once this job ends, assuming I do not have another job, what happens? I think I could start to collect again under the existing claim? But that would only be for a couple of weeks. And it would still be part of the EUC Tier One? Since it is an “extension” would it still continue once my claim expires? Or do I wait for the claim to expire and then reapply for a new claim? I think I have qualifed for the “40 times weekly benefit amount” for the quarters that would be used for a new claim, so would I then get approved for a “new” 26 weeks under the basic program?
