    Default Unemployment Benefits Disqualification

My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: CA

After filing a claim for unemployment benefits in the state of California, I was denied and went through a very lengthy appeal process which yielded positive results-- I was to get unemployment benefits.

Shortly after receiving a letter saying that I was to receive unemployment benefits, I was phone interviewed. Everything seemed like it was running smoothly.

A week later, however, I receive a letter from the unemployment office saying that I had been disqualified because I had not been completing and returning the Continued Claim Form. I had no idea I had to fill and send this form if I had been denied Unemployment benefits.

    What can I do?

Have you called and asked? Having said that, you should have asked us earlier Or the EDD. You should always continue filing your weekly/biweekly claims while your claim is under appeal and until neither party has any more appeal rights, exactly for this reason. There may be nothing that CAN be done under CA UI laws.

Let me clarify. I wasn't really aware what the "Continued Claim Form" actually was. But I did submit the forms every two weeks throughout my filing claim, with the exception of two, both of which I am almost sure I actually did mail to the UE office. So, the reason why I am not receiving the benefits of the UE Insurance anymore ( well not anymore, since I haven't technically received anything, at all!), is because of those two forms that went missing.

Another thing is, that when I had my last phone interview, the interviewer mentioned that I was in fact missing those two forms, but advised me not to worry, since he would go ahead and mail them in for me. He assured me everything was fine. As you can imagine, it wasn't, and it's not.

Did you move or change your address at anytime? Did you call each week to check on your payment? You can call during off hours to check your account. Do you set up a pin number to access your account?
Call EDD again and explain you never recieved the last two claim forms.
