My question involves child support in the State of: Tennessee
My boyfriends daughter will be 18 in March 2010. He and the mother had an agreement that he would help with expenses when needed. He also has an older son by the same woman. He was paying child support on his son when their daughter was born so it's not like he refused.
Now 17 years later he was summoned to court for child support. They want to go back 16 years. Is there anyway around this back child support? We are consulting with a lawyer but apparently this doesn't happen alot where a woman decides after 17 years to seek child support.
Facts: He has had his daughter on health insurance since day 1
Anytime she has needed anything he gave it(no receipt)
He and the mother commuted regular untill this came about
He has worked the same job for 27 years and child support 17 years ago would not be nearly as bad as child support now(with economy and he works in automotive).
Hope this wasn't too long and any advice is much needed. God Bless.
