My question involves a roommate in the State of: virginia
I leased an apartment with a family member and about a month ago the family member moved someone into the apartment without speaking to me at all and now the person is living here not paying any bills and actually has no job. They are loud, dirty and make me not even want to spend anytime any where but my own bedroom. I pay more of the rent then the other party cause I have a larger room which also doesnt seem right to me. Someone had told me that i may be able to get out of the lease because the other party moved someone in and did not tell the landlord which essentially broke the lease and this may open up a loop hole for me but i dont know if the person is correct or not....does anyone know if this will work? i dont want to screw over my family but im am not happy and do not like living with a complete stranger that just sits arounnd the house all day long that can go into my room when ever they feel they want to. The lease states that anyone living in the apartment has to be on the lease and even goes as far to say that guest can not stay longer then 3 consecutive days without permission from the landlord and such. im just trying to find out if its at all possible for me to get out of this place with out paying a ton of money to break the entire lease. any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
