My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Oregon.
I am currently fifteen, but because of my mother's harsh rules and verbal abuse, I'm looking for the quickest and easiest escape route. I've read all the posts about emancipation in Oregon, and I understand the requirements for becoming emancipated, but I'm curious about a few things.
1. I was kicked out last year when I was fourteen and was living semi-independently, paying for my own food and for rent at my friends parent's house, but not for water, electric, etc. Five months later, my father forced me to move back in with my mom. Would my five to six months living semi-independently be considered by a judge in the future?
2. I go to a high school program where I can get two years of free community college if I complete the program. My dad says the simple solution would be to move in with him, then I wouldn't have to deal with my mom, but he lives in a town an hour away and it would be impossible to commute to school every day. Would this be considered by a judge, and how much would this help me?
Please&thanks for any info I receive!
