My question involves a background check in the State of: Illinois
Ok here goes: I was pulled over and arrested for a city warrant (utility bill from civil. civil contempt) while I was arrested the search subsequent to the arrest they found my police belt with my extendable baton in the trunk of my car. I was a reserve police officer for a small town, strickly volunteer. I was booked, processed, and bonded out same hour. I receieved a letter from the states attorneys office the beginning of the next week that all charges were dismissed and that I wouldnt need to appear in court. Everything was fine after that until I was pulled over and over and over and everytime was asked if I had any weapons in the car which was odd. When i finally started asking why they thought I had weapons I was told that it shows up when they run my name that I have had a unlawful use of a weapon charge. I tried checking with the county i was arrested they have no record of the charge at all now? I never ordered or payed for an expungement or seal of the records but its been deleted. It also showed up when I applyed for a state license for perc card. I don't know how to clear this, and I don't know where to get any of the information. It seems like its hit or miss, the last 2 companies Ive worked for said they did a background/criminal check and neither have said anything. I'm at a loss, any help would be appriciated. Thanks in advance.
