Post Caught Shoplifting, Civil Demand Notice, No Police Involved

My question involves criminal law for the state of: I recently had a lapse of moral judgement, got caught shoplifting at a Rite aid (total of 7.00). No police were called but he took all my info I signed the paper (admitting) he then told me I will get a civil demand have to pay 200 (Which I intend to pay) but then he said he has to fax the paper to the rite aid lawyer ( to get the civil demand) AND to some company that makes it show up on a criminal background. This is where my concern come into play. How if possible can it go on your background if not convicted and is it possible to get it off my background.

You did not mention your state, so that makes it difficult to say what might happen.

In general, this will not become part of any criminal history. There might be a retailers database for shoplifters, but that's not your criminal history.

Your name will be put into the database because the paper you signed gave your authorization for the retailer to do so.

There is nothing you can do to get off the list.

I am in Ohio....I am interested in this database. When applying for a job I am assuming that I would check no to being convicted. But when they run a background check will this appear?

    Depends on the background check.

    Not all are created equal.

Well, I do law enforcement backgrounds and we do not check any retailer databases. So, unless you are applying for a retail outlet, you may never have to disclose this unless you go into law enforcement or some related field.

Thanks you all for the info. Also thanks you for not lecturing me as I admit I made a bad choice and now I have to deal with the consequences. Thanks Again!
