    Default Guardianship Laws Between States

My question involves guardianship in the State of: Minnesota. My sister received guardianship and custody of her 4 grandchildren in Iowa 5 years ago. She and the children moved to my home city in Minnesota to be closer to me. Now the childrens mother is going to take her back to court and try to get custody of the kids back. Are the laws different between states. And the mother or father have never paid any court ordered child support or send anything towards their care. She no longer is able to work as the kids have some disabilities. And the little income she does receive goes towards rent and utilities. She depends on me and others to help with school clothes and supplies. Can she get help on legal fees.

Laws are different between states. She can explore her legal aid options in Minnesota (or Iowa if the litigation is occurring there).
