A Juvenile Assaulted My Son at Our Home

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Washington

So a 17 yo male called my home/ my sons cell phone (Unbeknownst to us untill after the assault) for 3 hours I, my 15 Yo son 12, YO daughter and 9 YO son were home for 10 min and a phone call came in my 15 YO answered and said "oh yea really?" and headed out my front door from that moment untill the police called it was about 3-3.5 min in that ammount of time I followed my son out the front door (840 at night and dark) my other 2 children followed.... Verbal exchanges followed between the boys, my other children were yelling and crying as I look back at the boys and see they are on the ground they were on the ground for 1-2 min (at this time I was yelling at the boy who was in the dark across the road from my house to stay out of the fight and trying to keep my other two out of the fray. before I knew it the other boy was standing up kicking my son in the head and stomping on his head. At that point, I started charging the fight and the kid ran off. I have been told by the juvinile prosicuter that charges wont be filed because it was a mutual assault, my son willingly participated and I did not intervine. I took my son to the emaergentcy room and had him evaluated this kid is currently on probation, had a curfew, has a criminal history and my son does not and this happened at MY home I'm verry angry and I feel betrayed by a system that is supposed to protect law abiding citizens what recourse do I have?

How about telling your son not to get into mutual combat, and intervening promptly when he doesn't follow your advice.

Your son can't go out to GET into a fight and then complain when he finds himself in a fight.
