Default My Employment Based I-485 Got Denied Last Week in California

Hi. My employment based I-485 got denied last week ( i missed a biometric appointment for which i did not receive any notice.)
The reason for denial is stated as abandoned & it says i can appeal to re-open. 290B. What should be my approach. In a seperate incident i had lost some un-opened mails in a bag sometime in may this year. I dont know if my notice was there. I also proactively went to my local field office to ask if any communication had been sent recently. The lady there told me she cannot see that, but will note our request to resend any recent communication. She did not give me any reciept of my going to field office. Now when i went back to ask her for any record of my visit, she says she doesn’t have any. In such a case what should i do? I have always been prompt with my INS matters. I have gone for my 2 earlier biometrics- one in jan2008 and second in sep2008. What should i do to reverse this denial?

If the issue is that your case was closed because you missed your biometrics appointment, and as a result you must now must petition to reopen your case and reschedule biometrics, that would appear to be your answer.

If the problem lies in your losing correspondence from the USCIS that you haven't yet read, I suggest being more careful with their correspondence in the future.
