My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: New York
In April, 2009, daughter's meek & charming boyfriend tried to purchase a car with bad credit & driving record. The dealer wouldn't even consider him - daughter pleaded, I signed solo for the car, immediately drafted installment promissory note which was signed by him & notarized.
Note clearly cites that I am disabled, cannot drive, do not need car & it's solely for him. Also the insurance for car must be paid on time, or turn over car so plates can be returned to DMV until he catches up. Sure enough, .he immediately uses car to do bad things, they break up & I've been chasing him for money since month #2.
Am handing him notice of breach of promissory note tomorrow. Haven't seen the car in months, but the grapevine says he may be doing illegal transactions using the car. Car amount still due is $24,000 plus ongoing insurance. The car is not in default to the bank yet, as I'm paying it.
Insurance is due soon, and I will not pay it.
He gets unemployment & works off the books. Dumbest thing I've ever done by a mile. What do I do next - from a safe distance?![]()
