Does anyone have experience with going on a job interview with a background like this?
I haven't ever filed a suit against an employer, so the answer to your question is no in my case.

However, I have interviewed and hired many people, some of whom have brought various suits against employers. While there are people who interview well and can con an interviewer, for the most part the following is true. Problem people stick out in the interview. They telegraph that they will be a problem. One of the biggest red flags is someone who has had previous job difficulties and always blames others as the cause of the problem. They blame their bosses, their peers, their subordinates for whatever went wrong. People who will likely be good employees tend to avoid blaming others even when they have good reason to do it. So, be the second kind of person.

The first and maybe a second interview will happen before any records search will be conducted that could unearth the existence of the law suit, so you will have ample opportunity to sell yourself before they know about it. If they then find out about it, it is while they are conducting an investigation to support a tentative hire decision (if they haven't made a tentative hire decision, they'll simply reject you and do no more). So, if they ask you about it, say something like the following depending on what the actual facts of the case are. "We were involved in a bad situation in which I ultimately felt I had to stand up for my rights. Happily, we were able to resolve the situation without going to court."
