My question involves collection proceedings in the State of:
I live in Illinois, Cook county

HELP!

I have been given a court summons within today, but they deliver this summon to my father in different county and different address. My first question is, is this action legal for me to appear in court?

I am planning to appear in court, because I've already settle this debt with another collection agency back in 2006 and I've already contacted the collection agency that I've already settled with and they are mailing me the proof of the settlement and the payment. But, if I appear, will I be responsilble for the court cost?

Or, what actions will be appropriate for me to take at this time

Why were you served at your father's address? I have no way of determining if that's a valid address for service, as I have no facts about your situation.

If you've already paid this debt, you should be able to get a dismissal without being on the hook for court costs. Unless you agree, for some reason, to pay them.
