My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Mass.
I feel I was wrongfully terminated from my position due to petty unwarranted complaints. A year ago I was fired for arguing with management over an unresolved issue with a co-worker. I was called the next day and told "I may have acted too hastily, and would like you to take your job back" I agreed under certain conditions, and once I agreed to those conditions and went back to work, they backed out of them.
Certain management did not want me coming back, and did everything possible to make my work days miserable. Constant complaints about petty issues that could have been dealt with internally were sent to Corporate as incompetency. Issues that I went to her with about other co-workers were not dealt with, and matters got worse. I was told by upper management that this particular manager was doing everything possible to get me fired.
Due to all the minor complaints I was put on a 30 day trial warning. Weekly meetings were in order to assure I was improving things in the office setting. Every week I wrote up everything done towards improvement, yet only had one meeting with the manager in the entire 30 days. I was told to "come back later" yet every time I went to her, she didn't have time for me.
At the end of the 30 days, I went to her to find out my job status and she said "Oh we didn't even talk about it, I'll find out for you" The next week she told me Corporate was willing to keep me on, but that 'one more mistake,' and I would be fired.
A secret shopper came through the office and I was given a bad review. I was able to pinpoint the exact client, and refuted everything they had to say. Our interaction together went nothing like what they said on the Secret Shopper. Management didn't want to hear my side of the story, and I was fired.
I still keep in touch with a couple of co-workers and I have been told that management was speaking badly about me, saying things that weren't true, and one employee went to do the bank deposit, and was talking badly about me to the bank tellers. This also is my personal bank, and I see those people regularly.
There is a LOT more to this as far as things said and done in the past, but I want to know if I have a case to sue for wrongful termination, defamation of character, mental anguish, (on anxiety medication, usually taken once a month, now two a day) loss of wages, etc. Any advice would be appreciated.
