    Default Petty Theft Warrant

My son is 23. He has a warrant for petty theft in Ca.

    PC417(A)(1), PC484(A)

He has no prior record. What should he do? This happened in July and they sent a notice to his old address after the court appearance.

    Default Re: Petty Theft Warrant

He can talk to a lawyer about surrendering himself on the bench warrant, and defending him against the charge. He can do that without a lawyer, but a lawyer may be able to facilitate his avoiding spending a night (or possibly even a couple of nights) in jail after he turns himself in (or gets picked up by an officer who discovers the warrant, for example, during a traffic stop).
