    Question Magistrate's Court Was Double-Booked

    Hello All,

First time I've used this forum, was not sure where to start this thread

Anyway, I got caught speeding over a year ago and its now gone to the magistrates court.

I was then later told that the court room had been double booked and my case would be set to another date due to the fact that mine was a lower priority case.

I paid my solicitor £500 for the day, and now I'm going to have to pay another £500 for the other date.

Can I not claim the money back from the court as it was there fault??!

I feel like they have done this on purpose as I tried to fight my case and the prosocution had no evidence at the time?!

    Any help would be great.

    Neil

This is a U.S. forum, and you really need to ask this on (I assume) a U.K. site where you're likely to find somebody who knows the laws of your country.

Here in the U.S., if you hire a lawyer and contract to pay, for example, $500 for each court appearance, then you find out on the court date that there was an adjournment due to a mistake by the court, you'll still be contractually obligated to pay your lawyer the agreed fee for showing up in court with you.
