Default Case Dismissed in Child Abandonment, Will This Affect My Future Employment

My question involves a background check in the State of: New Mexico

Earlier this year I was cited, never arrested or convicted, for child abandonment. Brief summary of what happened is that there were 6 adults around at the time when my child decided she wanted to go home, slipped past all of us, and we noticed just a few minutes later. The police sergeant, who was not present when I was there, told the officers to cite me with child abandonment, which I thought was ridiculous because I didn't abandon. I hired a lawyer and the officer decided to dismiss the case right away. I'm going to school for early childhood education and am trying to get a job in a daycare. Since this was dismissed will this affect my being able to work in this field. This is something I have always wanted to do and I love children and would never ever do anything to intentionally harm a child. Please help me.

Since the charge was dismissed, consult an attorney for assistance with filing for an expungement of your record.
