My question involves grandparents rights in the State of: Oklahoma
I have a 16 year old daughter with behavioral issues. She has been violent towards me and has a serious problem with lying and manipulating people. Because of these issues I placed her in a Methodist Girl's Home hoping that through their program she could get the counseling and individual attention she needed. This was after she had tried living with her grandparents and having them kick her out for lying and forging her report card.
Her first month was pretty easy going as both sets of house parents were getting to know her personality. They are now learning how manipulative she is and catching her lying, stealing, manipulating, and causing drama throughout the house. The first time she got in trouble and was given consequences (loss of priveleges and a handwritten essay) she told me I had to remove her from the program. I told her under no circumstances would I remove her. So now she has written her grandfather, my father, a letter telling him she is forced to take medications (ADHD meds she requested) and she hates it there and if he doesn't get her out she might hurt herself. I know my daughter well enough to know this is her way of manipulating him and if by some slim chance she is suicidal, she is under the best supervision possible at the home.
Too late to make a long story short, but my father has now contacted DHS and the local DA to get custody of my daughter and remove her from the home. I am a single parent and my father knows I can't afford an attorney to fight this, but I can't sit back and let him pull her out of the only place that I feel can help her at this point.
I don't have any clue where to begin and would appreciate any help or advice anyone can offer.
Thank you,
Tricia
