My question involves medical malpractice in the state of: South Carolina

My father had a cystoscopy done by a urologist in which bladder cancer was found in the bladder wall. The urologist removed the parts of the tumor that stuck out into the bladder, then referred him to an oncologist for further treatment. A CT scan was done the next day and showed that the cancer had not spread outside the bladder or to the lymph nodes.

After about 6 weeks he had gotten so weak he was admitted to the hospital. A CT scan was done that showed that the cancer had spread to his lungs, kidney, along his spine, and many other areas. He died less than a week after this.

My question is did the urologist make a mistake by removing part of the tumor and leaving part in the badder wall? It seems like this would cause the tumor to enter the blood stream and spread.
