    Default Illegal Fireworks Charge

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California

Hi, last year i was charged with a misdemeanor possession of illegal fireworks in
California. I was issued a court date and I went to court when I was required, and charges were dropped against me. I went to the clerk at the counter and asked if I was free to leave and if i needed any paperwork, and she explained that my case was dismissed and i was free to leave.

Fast forward a year, I was pulled over by a police officer and informed that I have a warrant out for my arrest, and that I need to get it cleared etc.

My question is that I don't recall receiving any official paperwork verifying that my case was dismissed, should i go to the county court and inquire about the case or would i better of getting an attorney to take care of this matter? thanks.

One other thing I looked up my case record and it says that it is still active, and that my status is FTA. Does anyone have any idea what that means?

FTA means "failure to appear". I don't know what happened in court, but it does not sound like a dismissal.

Consulting a lawyer sounds like a good idea.

If I am not mistaken, a court reporter is present at all court proceedings including arraignments. Could I use the court reporters transcript as evidence of dismissal, because I dont have any official documentation.

I recently went to my Arraignment, and the DA offered me 3 years probation and 5 days jail. Is this unusual for a simple fireworks charge? Most people seem to get off with a fine, and I am going to consult a lawyer and hopefully get these charges brought down. Any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated, thanks.
