Yes, of course! I went out on disability March 12, 2004, and after about 6 months, I received a pack of papers in the mail telling me that my short-term disability payments were going to end because I had reached the maximum time for receiving them. Then they said that, while I was employedf, I had obtained the long-term disability insurance which would provide a monthly payment in the amount of "X." but one of the stipulations for receiving these payments was that I had to pursue filling for disability. It also stipulated that if I was denied, I had to file an appeal and pursue it all of the way to the actual judge hearing point. If I was approved they would subtract the amount that I was awarded from the amount that they send me each month and, if I was awarded retroactive pay, they would be reimbursed only the amount that I was awarded each month back to the date the disability was approved. For example, if I was awarded 500/month, they would be reimbursed 500.00 x 24
I had to sign it, or I would have had zero money to support my two children, but I want to use it to put a roof over our heads and pay off debts that I am struggling to pay living on such a limited income. I have applied for government programs ie; food stamps, medicaid, and financial assistance and I was told that I made too much money and, because I had a case pending with disability, I could not be approved for medicaid. Red tape and B.S!!
