My question involves injury or loss that occurred in the state of: California
Hello,
I have a few questions, excuse me if this goes beyond concise.
I may need to represent myself in this matter but I am not sure where to start (I can not afford a lawyer and legal aid services are limited in my area and I am not able to drive and shuttle services are also limited).
In addition, I am not the only one wanting to know if it is possible to sue over this issue with the same person.
What I would like to know is...
Is mental abuse something that one can sue over in California?
What proof is acceptable since I imagine the burden would be on us?
Would we need to speak to a court appointed psychologist to determine this? (I'm just guessing here)
There are 2 minors involved, I am in contact with their parent, and we want to band together than alone, when approaching the person in question (I personally get anxiety flare ups at just the thought of them and it causes more than inconvenience, the youngest however is on a standby suicide watch of sorts at home).
Besides asking for this person to pay for all our psychotherapy bills, can I ask for loss of wages since they in part influenced me needing to take a pay cut and get on disability insurance benefits?
I wouldn't know what amount to set, is this something determined by the courts?
And finally, is there a limit of charges one can place on another?
I would appreciate links to a legal online library that won't require me to sign up for consultations...
Tips on the actual codes I need to look up since I have no clue where all this can be found or what terms to use in a search....
And finally if any can be referenced, etc... cases in California about this matter I can read up on.
I apologize for the length in this. Thank you
