Default My Daughter is Violating Parole

My question involves criminal law for the state of: PA.

My daughter, who is 23, is on state parole and is doing the drug suboxone. She was originally arrested for drug use. She is very good at convincing everyone that she no longer uses and has straightened her life up but I do know that she is just very manipulative and a very good actress. I have called her PO several different times to let him know different things she is doing but he never does anything. He tells me she is doing good. He sees her maybe once a month if that. I am worried that she is going to start using chrystal meth again once she's off parole, which is in a couple of months. Is there anyway to get someone from parole to take this serious? She uses suboxone because she knows it's not detectible in the normal drug test they give her. Please tell me what to do to get someone to listen to me and stop her before it's too late.

If she is high at home, call the police.

I know you are concerned dad, but sometimes you just have to let your kids hit rock bottom. Does she live with you?

I am assuming that she's living at home as a condition of her parole. If you wish to continue that while she's on parole, consider instructing her that your house is a sober house and that she can only continue living there afterward if she is both sober and working a program. Tell her that she needs a sponsor, needs to be actively working her steps, and needs to do "90 in 90" with AA or NA. She'll know what all of that means. If you don't, I suggest attending some Alanon meetings, where you can vent some of your feelings, hear what others have gone through, and get a better understanding of how the only thing you can really do in this type of circumstance is protect yourself. I suggest Alanon no matter what else you decide - you can help yourself.

You can't make an addict want to be sober. Neither can a parole officer or a jail cell. The decision to enter recovery has to come from the addict. Further, with the type of history you're describing, recovery is going to be a rocky road. Meanwhile, unfortunately, you should operate from the assumption that everything she tells you about her drug use or non-use is a lie, and that the only thing you can use as a measure of progress will be her actions. Pretty much everything an addict will tell you is a lie, and the rest of it may be sincerely expressed but is no more useful than a lie if not carried out by actions.

As Antigone indicates, if she's in possession of Suboxone that's not prescribed to her, that's a crime that can be reported to the police, if you wish to go that route.
