Default U.S. Citizenship and Establishing Residency in Canada

    Hi,

I am wondering if someone can help me with the situation...
the deal is i immigrated to U.S. with my parents on june 2005 and i can apply for citizenship on june 27th 2010.
In the meantime, I have been in long distance with my fiance for 4 years who is a green card holder of Canada. We got engaged last month and he wants to get married by next year June, so I would need to move to Canada. and if he files for my paperwork, that is the permanent resident card for Canada, so that I can work there, would I loose my U.S. green card?? and if I send my application next year by June for citizenship, can I stay in Canada with him in the meantime for like 2 or 3 months and then come back here and go to Canada again until I hear regarding my citizenship interview? I really want to get the U.S. citizenship and I want to stay with my fiance tooo...can anyone suggest me what I can do in this case? What would be the best thing to in this situation? Please advise. I would greatly appreciate it.

    Yes.

No. You must maintain a certain period of CONSECUTIVE days of legal residency in the US in order to be eligible for citizenship.

You'll have to decide which you want more at the moment. If you really want citizenship, put off the wedding plans until after you've sworn the oath of naturalization. You're looking at a mere 9 months of continuing long distance.

Thanks a lot for your response. This is what I was thinking too.
So, I cannot leave U.S. once I have applied for my citizenship right? I mean out fo last 5 years, I have only been outside the U.S. for about 65 days.

Any idea how long it takes on an average for application processing in Dallas?
I would be sending my application package towards March end. Can I apply from a different city in Texas like San Antonio? I have heard San antonio is quicker than Dallas. Please advise.
and again, I truly appreciate your time.
