    Default Theft by Deception

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Illinois

I gave a guy a $500.00 deposit for a truck that I went to see at his shop. I have a receipt, pictures of the truck (with him in it), the VIN and plate #. He said he was going to have a snow plow installed and would collect the balance I owed him when it returned. That was in February. He has promised 9 times to meet me to deliver the truck, and another 6 times to meet me and give me the deposit back. I know where he lives and go to his house every day to collect, but he's not there. I just found out yesterday that he sold the truck to someone else. Is this theft by deception?

Youre free to make a police report and see what the police make of it.

Consider suing for your $500 in small claims court.
