Angry Can I Sue My Husband for Having Children While Having an Affair

My question involves divorce in the State of: New York
My husband and I was Married in New York and later moved to North Carolina where Two years ago my husband abandoned me and our 7 year old son, no money no nothing.. At the time he worked for the North Carolina Nash Sheriff's department and had an affair with a fellow officer.. I called the department relentlessly to see if they would uphold the moral issue that they say they stand by.. (They did Nothing)..He left me and our son which led us to be evicted and I had to drive across country to California to live with my mother.. Two years has passed and no money no phone call for my son.. whom has had some problems adjusting and I had to get him a therapist. I heard from a cousin of his informing me that He had two children since I left.. Wow!! That is Messed Up I feel so bad that I trusted and loved this person once upon a time I never thought that he could do something like this especially to our son.. What can I do? I would like to sue him for abandonment, desertion , and for having children while still married... Can I sue his mistress for having an affair with him knowing that he was married? and can I sue the Sheriff's Department for accepting this adulturous affair?
