I Live in Kentucky:
I have an 18-month year old daughter and she is an angel. Sadly, the mother and I were never married and our relationship in general lasted about 3 years. I am 24 years old and am a Security Officer. The mother is 21. Partly why we did not work out is because she is bi polar, and just really was not ready for parenthood. So we both have done been to court already to establish custody, she has primary physical and I just have joint with visitation. To trying sum this up the best way, I can. I am trying to switch it around. I want the primary physical custody and give her visitation. My reasoning is because our daughter has never had a steady place to stay, the mother is always taking her to her moms, or grandma’s or my mothers or I have her. Therefore, our daughter Kaylee is always bouncing around while the mom is out partying. She has a different boyfriend every week some that are criminals. Another is that the fact she is bi polar and does not take her medication. She draws SSI because she is bi polar, but the Judge gave it to her only under the conditions that she is treated for her condition and she has not been since she was diagnosed. I am scared that she could harm Kaylee because she has harmed herself before due to being bi polar. The mother recently even had sexual relations with a 15-year-old boy and said she did not know he was 15. She even took our daughter to this boy’s house and stayed over night there with his family there. Also in general, I would just like to have more time with my baby then what I do. My visitation is only from Saturday to Sunday, and I need something more concrete in writing then just that. The mother might care but I believe a baby at this age needs if not both one of its parents majority of the time. Therefore, I am lost and just wanted to know peoples opinions as well as what steps I could take to get my baby on my side. I realize going for full custody could take an arm and a leg which is why I am ready to live with just primary physical.
