Hi,
I hope an expert can help me with these concerns I have.
I am currently an F-1 student, from Australia. I married my husband who is in the U.S Army, last year in November. We have not yet filed papers for my residency here in the United states, however we are planning to next month.
Now my questions are: Is it possible to quit school right now and just file for my residency papers and not have any trouble being out of status or will it cause problems?
Also, my husband is currently deployed, however I was told by the Legal department on base that when immigration asks for me to come in for an interview, and because my husband won't be present with me, I can just show them his deployment papers. I just want to clarify if this is possible? Any other information that i need to know in advance in relation to my case?
Lastly, because I am from Australia I was told that getting my residency approved wouldn't take long at all and could take the most 3 months, compared to places like the philippines, Is this true?
Thanks!
