Default Moving Out in Breach of Lease

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Mississippi

My friend's parents were laid off in California early in the recession. They recently moved to Mississippi for a job opening that was offered there. They signed a 14-month contract and two months in, they were both laid off. Unable to pay anything, they leave w/o notice to move back to California. What will happen to them?? Also, this is a corporate type apartment, not a personal landlord type.

Default Re: Moving Out in Breach of Lease

What will happen? We can't say.

What can happen? They can be sued for the rent for the remainder of the lease, or until the apartment gets re-rented.
