Hi,
I recently moved out of the apartment. The landlord returned the deposit after 55 days, even though I sent an email for the deposit after 30 days of my move. The land lord deducted $250 for replacing the carpet. He mentioned that he is not charging me the money for carpet and this is only replacement fees. The replacement was done by himself and he charged $50 per hour of labor which took him 5 hrs for replacing the carpet.
Can you please let me know if this is fair for him to deduct the money? I was there in the unit for 2.5 years and I think the carpet is more than 10 years old. We did the checkout inspection together and did not find any problem with the unit. Check-out inspection form was signed by both of us.
thanks,
John
