My question involves a traffic citation from the state of: New York
18 days ago, I recieved a parking ticket in Queens county, though I am a resident of suffolk. In addition, I will soon go back to college (leaving in 3 days). The ticket was for parking in a no parking zone.
My questions are:
1) Can I plead not guilty to the ticket, in the hopes that the issuing officer does not show up for the hearing? (Would this effectively void my ticket?)
2) Suffolk County and Queens County are about an hour's drive apart. My school is about 4-5 hours from Queens county and Suffolk county, respectively. Is there some way I can move my hearing closer to where I go to school, since this would drastically decrease the probability that the officer would come to the hearing.
3) If both the police officer and I appear at the hearing, what are my best options? (Assuming I was obviously guilty?)
3) If an officer doesn't show up for the hearing for a parking ticket, is this an automatic acceptance of the "not guilty" plea?
Thanks in advance for any insight, and any recommendations are welcome!
