He best be carefull reporting someone working under the influence. He said the guy passes them out.

Now for my own curiosity,..............What pharmacy should he call? How does a pharmacist in China find this person and then contact the doctor?

A doc has the authority to pull this guy in and test him?
OH, by the way shay, the doc doesn't have the right to pull him in, but he does have the right to test him the next time he comes in. Did I see any usefull information on what this poster may do following the criticism of mine? I didn't think so.

pharmacies are all linked to the dea,so reporting him to one pharmacy they in turn would report this name to the dea then he would send up a red flag wherever he went. as far as the doctor, no he doesn't have the authority to "order" someone in for a drug test, but what he can do is have you report to his office at any time and bring your medication with you so he can count it. if you do not have the amount you are supposed to, then he can discharge you from his practice. furthermore if you don't comply with the med count you can also be discharged from the practice.

    thanks, darrin

This is something I didn't know. I have been taking percocet for 5 years, I suppose the Dr has never suspected me of "selling" my meds.. But I do know of someone who does, and I know that If I were to turn this person in (it's a close friend, and they do Dr. shop) they would know who turned them in.. I have told them that they are going to end up being held responsibile for getting someone else addicted.. It will come back on them eventually.

Well blondie, if they doctor shop, they will eventually will be found out anyhow. Doctors are not stupid, and they have to answer for prescriptions that they prescribe. I would not worry about these people, they will be figured out eventually. The pharmacist will also contact doctors if they see the same name with different docs on the prescription. Hope all is well!

I just replied to a response I got from a different member. I totally had forgot about this forum. I am glad I stumbled across it again. I was looking for some information, and ended up on this site (I will bookmark it this time!) Thank you for your response.

Anytime blondie. Just a heads up. My friends friends was selling her prescription, when she went in for a dr's appt. the doc pee tested her. She came out clean, so he took her off the meds she had been recieving for some time. She came in to ask for a refill, he asked her when was the last time you took one, before he tested her, of course she lied, and the test proved that she did not take the meds, or it would have been in her system. I don't know the legalities of this or not, I just know it happened. Good luck in all blondie!

Usually, if a patient is on long term opiod therapy, the patient has to sign a 'contract' with the prescribing doctor. The contract allows for many things - random drug tests (including alcohol-since you are not allowed to drink while taking narcotics), discharge for multiple scripts, discharge for selling, and discharge for pregnancy are just a few of the things. My cousin was discharged by 2 of her doctors for 'double scripts'. She signed contracts for both of them (each contract said that she would not obtain narcotics from any other doc), got scripts from each of them and then filled them at the same pharmacy. She couldn't believe that they would 'fire ' her as a patient. duh! Docs are going to extremes to protect themselves (as patients have sued MD's for 'allowing' them to become addicted to the meds).
As far as the co-worker witnessing the drug distribution... Most companies have some kind of EAP that allows you to speak anonymously about issues. That may be an avenue to explore .

Last call for "drug tarts." Get them while they are nice and fresh, made a minute ago. First come, first serve.
