    Default Community Service

I am asking this question on behalf of my friend who got caught shoplifting in New Jersey. She was sentenced to 9 days of community service. Does anybody know how many hours=9 days? Also, she is a student in college and she said that she saw when she was in court the judge waive the community service for other shoplifters if they have a good reason for not being able to do it. Unfortunately, her attorney did not ask for her community service to be waived because it did not occur to them at the time that that was a option. She pled guilty last week. Does anybody know if there is any way she could ask for the community service to be waived, since she is going to be going back to school and would not have time to do it? Thanks for all your help.

    I would think 9 days = 72 hours.

You usually have a certain time period to do it, like 90 days.

She'll need to talk with her lawyer. If she can't do the Community Service, then she will likely have to pay a fine. If she had a fine and C.S., then she will have to pay a higher fine.
