    Default Roomate Breaking Lease

I moved in with my friend in june '05 and our lease is a year lease and ends in may'06. A few months ago my roomate was diagnosed with "Mulitple Personality Disorder" so needless to say she's been off her rocker! Anyway ever since we have been butting heads because she is making up insane lies about me not paying rent ect. Two days ago she left me a letter saying she would be out of the Apartment by the end of March. She also said this would give me enough time to find someone to sublet the apartment to and that she will no longer be paying her part of the rent. Can she legally do this? Will i have to take her to court or will my leasing office take her to court. We also signed seperate leases which i think helps alot in this case. But i'm lost I don't know what to do!

If you have separate leases, and your lease does not provide for any contractual liability for her share of the rent, you should only have to pay the rent as defined in your lease. If you are responsible for the entire rent under your own separate lease, the landlord can expect that you will pay the entire rent.
