I live in Ohio.

I was caught shoplifting a month ago, more on that here http://www.expertlaw.com/forums/showthread.php?p=335080

The cops showed up and told me that I would receive a letter in the mail in three weeks with my court date. It's been a month, is it possible that they didn't press charges against me or something? I'm not sure what to do.

Hard to say. I wouldn't recommend it. They may have forgotten about or lost your case. No need to remind them.

Just my thought on it:

If you missed your court date, a warrant would be put out for your arrest. Maybe the letter was misdirected. Maybe the court is simply backlogged with a lot of cases.

Since the cops were called, it will be sent to the Prosecutors office.

I got it. First Degree misdemeanor in the state of Ohio. The court date and time is during school. What should I expect to get sentenced to (for a first time offender 16 years old)? It was a $60 item.

I went to court today. I have to watch a video and pass a test with a total cost of $75. I also have to write apology letters to Wal Mart, and my parents. I didn't have a lawyer, and I think it would be stupid to take a lawyer to juvenile court. They could have taken my license, but they didn't.
