My question involves criminal law for the state of: pennsylvania
I've been charged with simple assault (2) after an altercation with an ex co-worker. I suffered a cut below my eye, but no other injuries. She suffered multiple cuts to her lip and a fractured rib as well as bruising. I physically instigated the fight after verbal threats from her. I also have a previous assault charge that was dropped when I was 17. That's the only thing that could be on my record, though I guess once you're 18 those are wiped from the record?
My lawyer is freaking me out because he believes a plea bargain consisting of some jail time (less than a year) is a good thing. I guess he would know better, but is he right? Considering the above, would probation, a fine, and possibly com. service be enough?
