Unhappy Speeding Ticket Today (CVC 22350) on Los Alisos in Orange County, California

My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of: California

Ok...I'm 18 and my parents do not know of this. I am trying to solve this as an adult and I'm currently asking a friend of mine how to deal with this and also, at the moment, searching for rules and solutions pertaining to my incident.

So, I got a speeding ticket because I was hurrying to get to my community college because I overslept (alarm clock didn't wake me up). Apparently I was doing 70 (although I think was doing a little less than that --- though I blame myself for not watching my mph gauge when I saw the cop) on a 45 mph road. There is a date to appear on court but the cop told me to "Take driving school to get it off my record and insurance, etc." So...what step should I take first? I believe it's mandatory to appear on court for a speeding ticket if it was 25mph and over the speed limit, but could someone reassure me?

Oh and one more thing...the date the cop wrote ON the ticket was the 20th, but he gave it to me today ---which is the 21st. Could this ticket be invalid?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Please and thanks.

You should be receiving a courtesy notice from the court telling you how much the fine amount is as well as informing you as to whether you have a mandatory court appearance or not. I'm not sure if the threshold is "25mph AND over" or if it is "over 25mph" that usually requires a mandatory court appearance.

BTW, the notice will be mailed to the address on the citation so assuming you live with your parents, you should watch your mail so it doesn't fall into the wrong hands.

Oh, and start saving up your dough... 25mph over the limit is a $321 fine... Add a additional $49 if you opt to go to traffic school.

    Good luck AND SLOW DOWN!

So the wrong date on the ticket is completely irrelevant? :/ Seeing as I didn't speed ON the 20th...

Yeah I know, I learned my lesson now. I just wish it didn't come with a $400+ fine...
