Default Collection of an Old Account

When a creditor sends an account to collection or sells an old account, can the collection agency or new owner of the account add those accounts to your credit record?

Also does this make a new SOL on the new account?

If this is re-aging an account about to drop off your credit report, it is probably illegal under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

It shouldn't have any effect on the statute of limitations.
