Default Statute of Limitations on Statutory Rape in South Carolina

    State: SC
I was 14 and he was 18. I didn't really know what was going on until it had already begun. We had been dating and he never really mentioned anything about sex. I hadn't even kissed a boy before then! This happened back in 2005 and I'm now 18. Is it too late to press charges against him? Thanks in advance!

Default Re: Statute of Limitations on Statutory Rape

Now that you're an adult, the statute of limitations has started running. If you plan to try to pursue this, you'll need to file a police report ASAP. Once that report is filed, it will be up to the prosecutor's office to decide whether or not charges will actually be pursued.
