In 2002 my Brother moved into a rented property in Lichfield Staffordshire and for the past 7 years everything has been ok, About 4 months ago he decided he could no longer afford to stay in the property and left and moved into a flat in the same area, 9 Weeks ago my mother recieved a letter from the landlord of the property saying that my mum had stood guarantor on the property and as the landlord could not contact my brother he was pursueing my mother through the courts for rent arrears totaling £9'300 + £14'000 for damage caused to the property and for skips builders etc in the subsequent repair of the property, my mother sent the landlord a letter stating that she had never signed any documentation stating that she would stand guarantor for my brother on any property, and if this document is in excistance then we would like a copy of the document because we are contesting the signature, he then sent my mum a copy of the tennancy agreement and copy's of all the paper work prooving the work he had done to bring the property back up to living standard, My mum states that this is not her signature and that my brother must of fraudulantly signed it! He will not accept this and my mum has recieved paper work today through the small courts where he is now attempting to recoupe his money, My brother just bury's his head in the sand and wont answer any of the paper work he has been sent, it has gotten to the point where my and my mum have fallen out with him and he wont even talk to us, we have contacted a local solicitor and they have advised my mum that because she is not on income support she is not entitled to any help with funding, but she is over 65 and in receipt of a state pension, my father passed away 9 years ago. My mum is obv terrified and we are at a point of not knowing which way to turn......
Your help will be very appreciated
Kind Regards
