Default How Does a Disorderly Conduct Charge Affect Gun Purchases

My question involves criminal law for the state of: South Carolina

About five years ago I was arrested for a domestic dispute in Georgia (I was living there at the time). However my defense lawyer got the charges reduced to disorderly conduct which I plead guilty (kept me out of trial and jail). Anyway my question is now is it possible for me to purchase a handgun in the state of South Carolina. I know it isn't really relevant but the gun purchase is for recreational shooting with a friend of mine.

I hope this is in the correct forum I apologize if it is not as this is my first post.

If they only go by what your convicted of then I wouldn't see a problem. The arrest may cause you a problem idk thou. The local gun shop or lawyer should be able to help.

As long as you were not CONVICTED of Domestic Violence, the misdemeanor (disorderly conduct) should not interfere with your ability to own a firearm, providing that you have not been previously convicted of an offense that prohibits gun ownership.

If I were you, I would spend the $20.00 bucks and get an attorney's opinion on this. But I think you are probably OK.
