My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: WA
Went through bc treatment three years ago. We had primary and secondary insurance that should have covered everything. Two years after surgery find out there is a bill unpaid in the amount of $800. Dr. office never called to notify us. We received a call from collection agency July 2009 for unpaid medical bill Feb 2007. I asked for the dates of the unpaid procedures because my insurance should have paid for all bills. I was given date so called doctors office and found out they had billed incorrectly...billed secondary as primary. My secondary turned down because it should have been primary. Anyway we called insurance they said to just resubmit bill and they would pay it. So....we thought everything was taken care of, when collection agency calls saying they only paid one billing. Called dr office said to bill secondary but since it is two years old I need to file appeal for them to payoff debt, which they said would be no problem. In mean time we received notice that a lawsuit has been started against us. We responded in writing explaining that the bill was being taken care of, we sent copies of letter to collection, attorney and court. Now we have recieved letter stating civil hearing is scheduled. All this for a doctors bill of $385. We never tried to run, once we knew of the bill we began to get bill paid. What do we do now. What will court be like.
Thank you.
