My question involves business law in the state of: SC

Wages Withheld:
Recently I left my job as a personal trainer at a local gym. The next week my final paycheck was short over $1,000. The reason my former boss gave me was that there was a "clerical bookkeeping error" and that "they" had forgot to take out money for my health insurance. Over 7 month’s worth. Now the problem with this, he told when I was hired that he was covering my insurance. He also covers other trainers (other than their families) along with the therapist too. I have emails (that was our contract) that say he is providing insurance through BCBS but not paying for it. But I also have one from Feb. that states we will have to start covering half of our insurances policies. This shows that he was covering 100%. Again he never took out any amount until my last check.
I have sent him a letter giving him ample time to pay the wages he withheld. He seems to think he is legally in the right.
I have the paperwork from the municipal court and will file with them this week. Is there a law in SC that states because an employer withheld wages and it causes late or missed payments on my bills and mortgage that I'm entitled to double the amount owed to me?
