Default Is It Possible to Get Emancipated

My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Texas

I am 15 and my grades have always been average. I am currently looking for a job, my parents are not terrible parents, I'm not a foster child but i wish to be emancipated. Is that possible? I've also been told my grades have to be exceptional and I'm willing to get straight A's and will even take extra courses. One parent is willing to support me being Emancipated when they feel I'm capable. Is it possible?

You really have no idea what emancipation is for, do you?

I do know what its for. When i first posted the thread I didn't state my whole story. Just my current status in getting Emancipated. I do not want to say my whole story or the reason to do so.

    thank you

No. You cannot be emancipated. Texas will not emancipate a 15 year old, period, and at 16 you cannot be emancipated unless you are ALREADY living away from home.

You don't have a job, an independent place to live or even a compelling reason why you want to be emancipated.

You didn't tell the whole story. Right.

That means that there is love involved... probably with someone significantly older.

No, that isn't a compelling reason either.

I wish that were really the reason. It would make it much more simple.Unfortunately no love here.
    but thanks thats truly flattering.

Basically, it's my understanding that if I'm already independent and supporting myself, then they may consider emancipating me? Also, not to forget an income and a means of transportation.

Your understanding is incorrect. Under NO circumstances will a 15 year old be considered emancipated in Texas, or most other states.

I apologize, I'm afraid I have not made myself clear.

By my last message I mean when I am 16. I turn 16 in 5 months and I'm sure that it may take longer then that to completly meet all the requirements. Although I have made progress....there's hope for me yet.

thank you, you have given me much to think about.

The state of Texas will not recognize a 16 year old as emancipated unless he is ALREADY living away from home (with the permission of BOTH parents, not just one); earning enough money to pay 100% of his own expenses with NO help from ANYONE (that means rent, food, clothes, utilities, medical care, insurance, transportation, school fees and supplies and all the other etceteras of life); making GOOD (not average) grades; and a reason that is more compelling than "I want to". Nor is "my parents and I don't get along"; "my parents are moving and I dont want to go"; "My parents are drunks/druggies/abusers/crooks/what have you"; "I want to live with my girlfriend/boyfriend"; "I/my girlfriend is pregnant"; or most of the other reasons we see on these boards. And even if all of the above are met, it's a crap shoot if the state will agree.

Emancipation is not and never was intended as means for a teen to leave home. Emancipation is intended to provide legal protections to those kids who, through no fault of their own, found themselves living on their own.

Thank you for clearing that up for me. I appreciate that I have gotten information said to me plain and simple. This helps me greatly. This will be a challenge, no doubt, but I WILL get emancipated. have no doubts,

    sincerely,
    Twright
