Default Effect on UI Benefits by Contracting with Prior Employer

My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: California
I am leaving a position and moving to another state to live with and marry my fiance. We plan to marry within 60 days which would qualify me for unemployment insurance. My employer would like me to continue to work remotely as an independent contractor until a replaced is hired and trained. This offer is open ended without a specific number of hours, but probably a couple of months at most. My question is what effect would this have on my eligibility for unemployment insurance?

IF you qualify for unemployment, you would have to report all money earned during your contracting assignment each week, which would reduce the benefits you would receive.

However, other than your location, what has changed in the job that would meet the criteria for independent contractor status?
