Default Denied Unemployment Due to Voluntary Quit

My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: Maryland
My husband was recently denied benefits due to voluntary quit. He left his last job to care for his mother and expected to start employment with AFLAC, but this did not work out. He is currently looking for full-time work and has some pretty promising leads. Should he bother to appeal this decision or just focus on finding work? (With my income only, things are really tight---any extra help would really be a relief right now.)

Generally, if you quit, you don't get benefits. I believe that in MD, if you are still out of work 10 weeks later you can apply again, but confirm that with the state.
