My question involves child support in the State of: Georgia
I've been payiing child support for about 3 months now and about a month ago, they contacted my employer about taking insurance out. Ok, to take out insurance on the child would be $65, but the reasonable amount (5%) for my gross income is $24 (5% of 480). So, my employer spoke with them and faxed them the insurance information and they agreed. Now, they sent papers wanting them to take the insurance out for a few weeks, about a month is what they said. My question is, can they do this? Do I need to get a lawyer? It was determined that I have to pay 91 a week...the insurance cost is almost as much as the support.
