My question involves grandparents rights in the State of: Louisiana
11 years ago I made a verbal agreement with my daughters granparents (On my daughter's father's side). They were to be in their care while I was out to sea in the Navy. Over the years they have made it quite difficult for me to get her back. I got her to live with me when she was 4 years old but it didn't last long because her grandmother once again convicned me that she didn't belong with me anymore because she had made a home in Louisiana while I was away in the military. I will admit that I have not always been there in the past and of course that has always been used against me. Now 11 years later, I've decided to go and get my child. Keep in mind that there was never a custody order issued of any kind nor did I ever give up my rights as a parent. Also during this time there was a paternity test taken and we all found out that Ray (my daughter's father) is not the biological father. No one cared at the time since Ray was already listed as the father on the birth certificate. I am married and in a very stable environment and my daughter is adjusting well to her new home. On the other hand, Raven's grandparents have filed a petition for custody of my daughter. Do they have any chance at winning? Even though Ray had a paternity test done in the past, can I have another one ordered through the courts?
